The Keynotes of Sustainable Farming & Workshops

Nevada County's Sustainable Food and Farm Conference will once again bring together an internationally renowned panel of speakers, local and national farming related businesses and organizations, and the public, for a weekend full of informative lectures, lively discussion, a food and farming exposition, plus numerous workshops for all levels of farming and ranching.

Coming early in 2013, the Conference will take place on Saturday and Sunday, January 19th and 20th. This year we will again hold The Keynotes of Sustainable Farming and Exposition at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Hall. Our scheduled workshops, both Saturday and Sunday will be hosted by Grass Valley Charter School located next door to the Veterans Hall.

Tickets will be available for several segments of the weekend starting at $30.00, or as a complete package for the entire weekend for $100.

This year's Conference kicks off with a first: Polyface YOU! Saturday morning you will have the opportunity to sit down with the Salatin Family, Joel, Daniel, and Sheri, and learn firsthand how their multigenerational Polyface Farms operates. For the first time away from the farm we were able to get the Salatins together for this amazing jam-packed workshop series.

Later in the morning we will open the Exposition at the Veteran's Hall and allow ample time for meeting and discussing many facets of the local food and farming community – from suppliers to producers to getting all this good food on your plate, you'll be able to speak with experts in their field.

Our Keynotes of Sustainable Farming Lectures will start in the Veteran's Hall at 1:00PM and continue until 6:00PM. And this year's lineup is another great one!!!

This year's Keynotes are:

Will Allen: Founder and CEO of Growing Power from Milwaukee, WI
Joel Salatin: Polyface Farms, Swoope, VA
Temra Costa: Author of Farmer Jane; Women Changing The Way We Eat, Oakland, CA
Mark Baker: Farmer and Patriot, Baker's Green Acres, Marion, MI

Check out the speakers page for complete bios on each speaker.

Sunday we've moved the Workshops on Sunday to Grass Valley Charter School, located next to the Veteran's Hall. We've expanded the workshops available to cover a much larger spectrum of topics and skill levels. Many local and regional experts will share their knowledge. Whether you are just starting out, or been at it most of your life, there will likely be a full day of knowledge to be gained by all.
